Infrastructure
As mayor of Milledgeville Georgia I would work with the city manager and the city council members to ensure that we design a clear comprehensive plan to overhaul area water issues. When I say overhaul our water system, I mean by rebuilding our 50 year old water department to a more state of the art building that would allow early detection of the water system deficiency. This would allow for the city to be more proactive rather than reactive.
At the same time it would allow for our city to better equip our hospital, our nursing homes, our schools with less contaminated water thus providing a more efficient water supply to our community.
It would also provide better stability for our local businesses to ensure that they can carry out their daily functions to the public and allowing the local businesses to spend less on emergency operating contingencies.
Economic Development
As mayor of Milledgeville I will work with the city manager and the city council members to ensure that we support and fully fund the Economic Development Authority. As a part of the city of Milledgeville budget we provide half of the Economic Development Authority budget to research, locate and establish careers to bring to the city of Milledgeville.
I would further encourage the city manager as well as the city council members to continually support the Economic Development Authority to ensure that we are bringing competitive jobs as well as careers to our city.
As a native of Milledgeville and someone who has worked at the Central State Hospital Culver Kidd Building, Central State kitchen and the Department of Corrections grounds I would fully support the Central State Hospital Development Authority and Friends Redevelopment team to bring back the revitalization of a once a very thriving workforce.
I would also encourage the city to work across the lines to help revitalize the south side of town to become a more productive and inclusive part of our city.
Milledgeville Marketing and Branding
As the mayor of Milledgeville I would ensure that we are marketing and branding our city in the most innovative and hi-tech manner possible. As the mayor of Milledgeville, I would take great pride in marketing and promoting the rich culture and history in Milledgeville. Although we are known for Georgia’s Antebellum Columns and Capital I would like to see us incorporate our history with updated attractions for our city residents and visitors.
Milledgeville enjoys a unique situation in having a university, a junior college, and a technical college. We value these students, even as temporary residents and would hope they might choose to one day make Milledgeville their home after college.
The only way this will happen is to become more innovative in the way we are moving Milledgeville forward and that will happen by creating a more marketable and competitive place in which to live and raise families.
Milledgeville History and Preservation
As mayor I will be 100% supportive of the preservation in our historical district located in the heart of Milledgeville, Georgia. After working for the city of Milledgeville with our local Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, I have witnessed firsthand the wide range of people coming from all over the United States and the world to visit and experience John Marlor’s design of our columns and the gothic designs that brings such delight to people of all ages.. As mayor I will fully support the private residences of our historic district and stand by them in protecting their rights to home ownership and the quiet enjoyment of their properties. I fully acknowledge their pride and their prestige in representing the local historic district.
I believe we can continue to be collaborative on how we partner to rebuild and revitalize our downtown historical district. We can continue to partner with Georgia College and State University and Georgia Military College in providing students with a sound college experience without sacrificing the dignity and pride of our historic residential taxpayers and owners.
